#DoingItForJarrod Week - Thank you from Challenge

<p class="MsoNoSpacing">Predictions of a wet spring were cast aside in November
with just 48.5mm of rain, all of which fell at the beginning of the month when
we were carrying out the renovations of the greens. We also experienced some
nasty weather towards the end of the month with hot, dry winds causing most of
the debris on the course. Often by the time we had cleared the fairways the
wind had blown the leaves and bark back onto the fairways! <o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">The scheduled greens renovations went ahead on Monday the
2<sup>nd</sup> of November. The wet weather meant that we could not top dress the
surface, so we opted to use small solid tines and dusted a week. Due to this
change we will need to do a mini core of the greens during December. Although
we had to make changes to the way the renovations were done the greens have
performed very well during November. A small outbreak of “Anthracnose” later in
the month affected the poa in some areas but we are well on top of that now and
an extra application of Gypsum and organic Acid are scheduled over the coming
weeks and months to cater for the increased sodium levels found in recent
testing of our irrigation water.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">The Tees
were renovated with 13mm hollow tines during the early part of the month with
cores being broken up with a steel drag mat then blown into the rough. An organic
fertiliser was applied followed by a medium top dress with USGA construction
sand. Tees have come up a treat with plenty of growth and recovery considering
the excessive number of divots and general wear.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><b>Please fill your divots </b>and if waiting on Par 3’s
fill those left by less considerate golfers. <o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">The fairways stood
up pretty well during November, but Ground Pearl activity is becoming very
obvious with the Poa dying off. Granular fertiliser was applied early in the
month to encourage growth over thin areas and turfing of Ground Pearl patches
was carried out in November on some fairways and will continue in December.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">The decline in the presentation of our bunkers over the
last two months is due to the break down of the bunker rake machine. We are
having difficulty finding replacement parts but hope the situation will be
resolved in early December. In the interim we will continue to hand rake the
bunkers and with the return to normal use of the bunkers we ask Members to also
<b>rake the bunker after use.<o:p></o:p></b></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">1,500 cubic metres of silt, rubbish and weed was removed
from the middle dam on 18<sup>th</sup>. The creek will be cleaned out once it
dries out enough to get equipment in safely. The large dam is currently being
treated and should be clear of the brown sediment soon. <o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">We have discovered a leak in the main irrigation line
coming out of the 8<sup>th</sup> pump shed but this should be rectified by the
11<sup>th</sup> of December when we replace a near-by butterfly isolation valve.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">&nbsp;<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">I’d like to wish you all a safe and happy Christmas, all

<p class="MsoNoSpacing">October presented us with a very wet last week during
which we received 68 of the 74mm of rain for the month. <o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">The Greens
have performed very well throughout October and remained clean of pest and disease
outbreaks. The worst of our problems on greens is the small amount of fairy
ring evident in the 6<sup>th</sup> green. Poa seed has all but vanished with
just a small amount remaining on a few greens. On the 2<sup>nd</sup> of
November, an 8mm hollow tine renovation was conducted on all greens. The Tees
have been renovated with a 12mm hollow tine and a top dressing.</p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">The benefit of the renovation in August and the
application of soil amendments has resulted in the tees being in great
condition and able to withstand a busy October.<br></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><b>&nbsp;</b><b>It would certainly assist the performance of our tee
surfaces if golfers would repair their divots, particularly on the par 3 tees.</b></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p>The coring and the heavy rain toward the end of the month
ensured that the fairways performed quite well over the last month. The growth
regulator program has commenced, and the fairways have received 2 successive
applications for the first time in 3 years. Turf patching will continue in
November and it is good to see that the new patches on the 11<sup>th</sup> and
13<sup>th</sup>&nbsp; &nbsp;are establishing well. Three tonnes of
synthetic fertilizer will also be applied in November to take advantage of the
predicted rainfall.</p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p>The work on the 18<sup>th</sup> dam has begun,
unfortunately the rain in the week prior made the work area wetter than we
would have liked and slightly impeded progress. The damage was repaired before
the equipment was taken from the site and after 3 days approximately 600m3 of

<p class="MsoNoSpacing">September was the driest month of the year so far with
just 33mm of rain falling in the month. We enjoyed lovely Spring weather with
warm days and cool nights. Weather-wise it was a tame month except for the very
last week where we received some remarkably strong winds.</p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">The greens have come out of winter with excellent
coverage. As in previous years, a 9-week program was followed to reduce Poa
seed head growth, and this should result in the eradication of Poa seed by mid
to late October. The Growth regulator program was commenced in September and
mowing frequency increased for the growing and Championship season. I think the
greens are in fantastic shape heading into October and I have scheduled a mini
core for the 2<sup>nd</sup> of November, weather permitting.</p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">The tees are really picking up now and responding to the
warmer days and fertilizer applications we applied during September.
Insecticide and Miticide were also applied during September to control certain
pests including Couch Mite and Black Beetle. The Tees will be renovated on or
around the 2<sup>nd</sup> of November with another synthetic fertilizer
application and a calcium application planned for during the renovation time.</p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">The Course staff
see the results of their efforts at this time of the year with the fairways
looking fabulous at present. They recovered well from their renovations in
August and during September, wetting agents and foliar fertilizer applications
took place along with regular irrigation. A little more rain will benefit them
greatly and I have an application of granular fertilizer ready to go out at the
first sign of decent rain. Some Ground pearl patches are becoming evident with
the drier weather and as the Poa dies off. Some bare patches have been turfed on
several fairways including the 11<sup>th</sup>, 13<sup>th</sup> and 18<sup>th</sup>.
We will continue to patch bare areas through spring and into the early summer months
if the weather allows.</p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">Subject to fine weather some tree work around the dam
will commence on Monday the 12<sup>th</sup> of October in preparation for the

<p>Dear Members,</p><p>I write to all Members of Carnarvon Golf Club to inform you officially that our General Manager Mitch Nakic, has resigned from Carnarvon Golf Club effective on 20 December 2020.</p><p>Mitch will continue at the Club until 20 December 2020 and assist with the changeover when we find a new General Manager.</p><p>Mitch has done a wonderful job as General Manager since his appointment in 2016. He has overseen the renovation of the Club, managed our terrific staff and worked well with the Board. <p class="MsoNoSpacing">July was very mild and without any significant frost or
wild weather except for one day on which the course received 75mm of the 103mm
of rainfall for the month. Our annual rainfall now stands at 804mm which is
much closer to average than in previous years. <o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p>&nbsp;<br></o:p>The Greens
are in fantastic condition and are enjoying the milder weather we have
experienced throughout July. The lack of frost or even a run of cold days has
allowed the greens to maintain their colour and vigour right through winter. Renovations
will take place on the 19<sup>th</sup> of August, weather permitting. We will
be using 12mm hollow tines to a depth of 100mm, followed by top dressing with
USGA spec sand and soil amendments. Preventative applications for Argentine
Stem Weevil and Pythium will be applied in August.</p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p>&nbsp;<br></o:p>Due to the
high golf numbers we have seen over the last few months the tees are showing a lot of damage. The markers are being
moved forward and narrowed up as often as possible to share the wear around
while also trying to give competition players as long a course as possible. The
couch on some heavily worn tees such as the par 3’s are suffering slightly
where the autumn Poa annua preventative herbicide was overlapped. This is
particularly noticeable on the 12<sup>th</sup>, 18<sup>th</sup> and a small
section on the 5<sup>th</sup>. Regardless of this the tees are clean of any Poa
and kikuyu grass. I believe that once the weather warms up and we renovate, the
tees will bounce back to full health.</p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p>&nbsp;<br></o:p>The fairways are
an absolute pleasure to look at at the moment. Mild weather and rainfall
coupled with monthly fertilizer applications have allowed fairways to remain in
great shape throughout the winter. A fungicide application was applied in July
to control Winter Fusarium brought on by the wet weather. Fusarium is something
we have seen in our winter fairways for years and we will be implementing a different
plan to avoid this in the future. Five tonnes of Gypsum was applied to fairways
to improve soil structure and while we don’t see an immediate response, this
will benefit turf health in the months to come. A second application will be
carried out later in the year.</p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p>&nbsp;<br></o:p>Bunkers have performed quite well during July. The 75mm
dump of rain did put some pressure on several of them but once they were pumped
out, they dried up quickly. Our resident fox has had a bit of a party in the 12<sup>th</sup>
bunkers this time, digging up some drainage gravel.<br><br></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><img src="https://qcC7iEAM4RaGvCB5T.client.v2.comarkdigital.com/v2-api/files/Nw4F5c3seXvjZwDnL/url/fox.png" alt="fox.png" style="width: 185.125px; height: 112.576px;"><br></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><br>The pathways have all been topped up and smoothed with
gravel, followed by 75mm of rain to wash them back out again!</p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p>&nbsp;<br></o:p>In early August arborists will remove some dangerous dead
trees as well as tidy up the cypress behind the 13<sup>th</sup> tee. Also,
during August, some corridors will be trimmed and some shade issues around the

<p class="MsoNoSpacing">June produced 35mm of rainfall, bringing our YTD total to
701mm. Despite being slightly damp, this winter has been quite mild and we are
yet to experience our first frost.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">In mid-June, the Greens were renovated with 8mm solid tines
to relieve compaction and improve air and water movement within the soil
profile. The Greens are in fantastic condition with no disease or dry patch
problems and they remain firm and flat even with the increased foot traffic and
higher winter rainfall. Full renovations are expected to commence on the 19<sup>th</sup>
of August.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">Over the
last 4 weeks the tees have improved which is incredibly positive considering
winter is a time for Couch dormancy. Tee surfaces are clean of any weed or
winter grass infestations and I expect them to be in tip top shape once the
warm weather arrives. <o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">There has been a bit of an increase in members practicing
on the plates which is disappointing as the dollies are placed by Green Staff
to ensure even wear. Please assist the Staff by only playing from the
designated area. <i><u><o:p></o:p></u></i></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">With the milder weather over the last month the fairways
have held on to their colour nicely. Monthly applications of fertiliser and a
recent application of fungicide for “Winter Fusarium” have been carried out to
assist in the continued colour and growth into spring. <o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">I would encourage all players to replace and sand fill their
divots as the early replacement of the grass encourages quick regrowth and a
better playing surface for all.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">Aside from the 7<sup>th</sup> green bunkers, the bunkers
have performed well during the June rainfall. Fifteen tonnes of sand has been
added to the bunkers on the back 9 holes.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">Mason Bale a 1<sup>st</sup> year apprentice has been
appointed and is contributing very well to the day to day running of the

<p><b>Carnarvon Golf Club</b> began in 1927 when the game was played on an informal basis before being regularised at the first Annual General Meeting in August, 1928. The first President was Alderman W.R. Atkinson of Lidcombe Council and one of the Vice-Presidents was the Hon. J.T. Lang, Premier of New South Wales.</p><p>The course which measured 4277 yards with a bogey of 75, was situated on the northern side of Parramatta Road and covered the following area :<br></p><ul><li>Western Boundary: Wetherill St.<br></li><li>Northern Boundary: Derby St.</li><li>Eastern Boundary: Haslam’s Creek and Hill Road.</li><li>Southern Boundary: Adderley St. Day St. then Parramatta Road to Hill Road.</li></ul><p>The area covered by the course included vacant proposed factory sites, unmade roads, an agistment paddock of the State Abbatoirs and portion of Southian’s dairy. The greens were the natural grasses mowed at the weekends by the members’ own push mowers. The holes were jam tins.<br></p><p>The course was named after a large sign, visible from Parramatta Road, advertising factory sites for sale on Carnarvon Hill Estate. This sign is regarded as the first clubhouse as members drove nails into it on which to hang their coats and other paraphernalia.<br></p><p>The first real clubhouse, known as “the Shack, was erected in 1929 on the corner of Day and Derby Streets and comprised two rooms, one 10 feet by 10 feet for members and the other 8 feet by 8 feet for associates with a 9 feet by 4 feet verandah. In 1931 the old Auburn Ambulance Station was purchased, towed to the site and added to The Shack.<br></p><p>As tenure over the original course was tenuous at best a move was made to what became known as the “old course” in late 1932 with the official opening in 1933.The old course was located to the north of Fariola St. and occupied two paddocks owned by Newington State Hospital and a paddock to the south of Holker St. owned by Lidcombe Council. The lease from Newington State Hospital was for fifteen years under permissive occupancy tenure and covered tees and greens only. The greens were enclosed with post and rail fences as protection from our bovine co-tenants of the hospital dairy herd.<br></p><p>The clubhouse was moved to the northern side of the eastern end of Fariola St in 1933 when extensive additions and alterations were effected.<br></p><p>Things moved along swimmingly for the next ten years or so until the outbreak of World WarII. Our biggest disaster came on 8 March, 1943 when the clubhouse and the top paddock were taken over by the US Navy necessitating yet another move. It was decided to continue with a nine hole course consisting of the bottom paddock for seven holes with the remaining two holes in the council paddock. This became known as the Silverwater course. To accommodate a Clubhouse the committee resolved on 20 April, 1043 to purchase thecottage in Clyde St. Auburn and the adjacent eleven vacant blocks for 470 pounds Following the convention of the time it was necessary to pay 100 pounds “key money” to obtain vacant possession of the property. With renovations the cottage served as a Clubhouse until the move to the present course. The old cottage went through many years of modification, renovation, partial demolition and rebirth as a motor boat club, Auburn Businessman’s Club and is currently Dooley’s On The Water.<br></p><p>The move to the present course was foreshadowed as early as 1943. The new course was an amalgamation of two contiguous areas separated by Walters Rd. which originally ran through from Nottinghill Rd to Joseph St. The area between Leila St. and Walters Rd. was the Lidcombe Sports and Showground and the area between Walters Rd and Amy St was the western grazing paddock of Lidcombe State Hospital for its prize winning herd of Holstein dairy cows. The areas were amalgamated, Walters Rd closed and the area leased to Carnarvon Golf Club in 1947. The course was built between the years 1947 to 1949 to a design by Arthur East. The Clubhouse was built over the same period. Due to the difficulty in obtaining building material in the post-war years the Clubhouse was built from material obtained by demolishing the Fariola St building together with the Liverpool and Lidcombe Soldiers’ Halls.<br></p><p>The Clubhouse and new course were opened in December, 1949. Additions and renovations kept the building functional until 1998 when the Club came under increasing pressure to bring the structure up to the required standards. The cost involved was considered uneconomic considering the condition of the underpinnings. The Board voted to build a new Clubhouse and then demolish the old building. This was completed in December, 1999.<br></p><p>Our present course presented a horticultural challenge to the earlier Committees and course superintendents as they battled with an area of poor clay based soil, gravel patches and rock outcrops. The Committee tendered for and won the contract to remove manure from the holding paddocks at Flemington Saleyards on the site of the present Flemington Markets. The contract ran from 1957 to 1963 and most fairways were covered to a depth of six to eight inches with mostly sheep manure. This was done half a fairway width at a time to enable play to continue. This combined with automatic fairway and greens watering of more recent years coupled with extensive drainage projects, has produced the lush course we have today.</p><p><br></p><p>To quote the late C.W.Phillips President, from his address at the A.G.M. of 27th March, 1943 :-<br></p><p><i>“Finally we have a good Club built by ourselves for ourselves and those we are happy to have with us and the old Carnarvon spirit will win through notwithstanding”</i><br></p>

          <h3>GOLF CARTS</h3>
          <p>We have 24 fully maintained Golf Carts for your use at $50 per cart for 18 holes. Hand pulled buggies must have wide tyres. Alternatively, these may be hired from the Proshop at $5 each.</p>
          <h3>EQUIPMENT HIRE</h3>
          <p>Club hire is available for both left and right handed players. These can be hired from the Proshop at a cost of $25 per set.</p>
          <h3>DRESS RULES</h3>
          <p>We wish to maintain a dress standard commensurate with the game of golf. For men, tailored shorts and trousers, shirts must have sleeves and collars. White short socks may be worn with a length of at least 75mm above the ankle.</p>
          <p>Items such as football jumpers and shorts, stubbies, brief shorts, athletic shorts and singlets, tracksuits, beach attire, dirty and worn clothes are not appropriate. Any person arriving for golf not properly attired will not be allowed on the course.</p>
          <h3>DRINKS ON THE COURSE</h3>
          <p>A drinks cart is available for hire at a cost of $40 per hour with a minimum of 3 hours. A staff member is included in this charge to drive the cart in accordance with RSA law. All beverages must be purchased from the Club.</p>
          <h3>BOOKINGS</h3>
          <p>Tentative bookings will be held for a period of 10 days only, after which time the date will be released. A non-refundable deposit of $500 is to be paid with each confirmed booking. If the function proceeds, the total deposit will be credited to the customer’s account.</p>
          <p>Menus, beverage arrangements, entertainment, audio-visual requirements, room plans, starting and finishing times must be confirmed in writing 14 days prior to the function.</p>
          <p>Final numbers must be confirmed no later than 7 days prior to the day of the event. These numbers may be increased up to 48 hours prior to the day, but not decreased.</p>

We are still so thankful to everyone who contributed to the days success.<br /><br />Brain cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in children, and adults aged under 40 in Australia, yet alarmingly very little is known about brain cancer, its causes or how its treated. </span></p>

<p><span style="color: #000000; font-size: 14px;">Subscription levels are set annually by the Board each year, commencing 1 September. Subscription rates may be adjusted to reflect a pro rata amount, relative to the remaining months of the financial year.</span></p>

<p style="color: #000000; font-size: 13px;"><span style="color: #212121; font-family: inherit; font-size: 24px;">1. Completing the Application Form with Application Fee</span></p>

<li>Please ensure that all sections of your application form have been completed in full. An incomplete form may delay your application.</li>
<li>Application forms are available from the reception area of the Club, or may be filled out via our online membership form.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Completed application forms can be submitted to the office in person or electronically.</li>
<li>Please note, a non-refundable application fee of $350 is required to secure a place on the Carnarvon Golf Club wait list. This excludes those applying for Intermediate 1, Junior or Sub Cadet Categories. The application fee is non-transferrable</li>
<li>Payments can be made by cheque or cash if an application is submitted in person. Applications sent by email, must make payment via credit card.</li>

<li>The application will be considered at the next Board of Directors Meeting. The Board reserves the right to reject any application without providing a reason for their decision. In the event an application is rejected, the application fee will be refunded.</li>
<li>All applicants will be invited to and must attend an interview with the respective Captains.</li>

<p>There are a limited number of times available on Sunday mornings between 6.30 am and 7.00 am<br>
  <em>(depending on the time of year)&nbsp;</em>for Sunday Social Groups. Social groups are capped to a maximum of 20 players per Sunday Social Club. <h3>GREEN FEES ARE $60</h3>

A total of 85mm of rainfall was recorded, which</span><span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"> </span><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">maintained soil moisture and ensured the dams remain full.</span></p>
<h4><strong><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 16.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; color: windowtext; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">Greens</span></strong></h4>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">The greens have performed exceptionally well, exhibiting full recovery following the previous month&rsquo;s renovations. With the onset of autumn, vegetative growth has begun to slow, resulting in increased green speeds, which averaged 9&rsquo;7&rdquo; for March. Selective herbicide applications have been recommended along kikuyu perimeters in order to manage encroachment. The greens remain free from any disease or pest activity and are in excellent condition moving into the new season. In light of the recent rainfall, solid tining is scheduled for April to promote oxygenation within the soil profile</span><span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">.</span></p>
<h4><strong><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 16.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; color: windowtext; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">Tees</span></strong></h4>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">The tees are currently displaying optimal coverage and health as autumn approaches. A decrease in growth and recovery rates is anticipated with the arrival of cooler temperatures. Members are respectfully reminded to maintain the quality of the tees by repairing and filling divots, particularly on the Par 3 tees.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">The fairways are in outstanding condition. It should be noted, however, that Corellas have been observed causing damage to the closely mown turf. Members are encouraged, when possible, to discourage these birds from remaining on the fairways by guiding them towards the rough, thereby helping to preserve turf quality.</span></p>
<h4><strong><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 16.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; color: windowtext; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">Planned Works</span></strong></h4>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">There are plans to commence sand replacement and repair of selected bunker faces. These tasks are currently postponed pending repairs to the drainage pipe traversing the 4th fairway. It is anticipated that this work will proceed in late April, once vegetative growth slows and staffing levels normalise after the run of short weeks. Initial repairs to the 4th fairway drainage will be temporary until a jet truck can be engaged to conduct a comprehensive clearance of the main line.</span></p>

This provides important clarity on the consultation feedback process, and I wanted to share it with you immediately.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: 107%;"><strong><span lang="EN-US">Current Situation as of 20 March 2026</span></strong></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: 107%;"><span lang="EN-US">Yesterday (19 March 2026) MMP CEO Denise Ora advised:<br /></span><em><span lang="EN-US">&ldquo;MMP has now completed their collation and consolidation of the consultation feedback and have provided this to the Department of Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure.&rdquo;</span></em></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: 107%;">&nbsp;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: 107%;"><span lang="EN-US">She confirmed that their website will be updated with this wording. However, when asked whether this also means the report has been supplied to the Minister, Ms. Ora stated she <em>&ldquo;can&rsquo;t comment that it means it is with the Minister yet&rdquo;</em> and can <em>&ldquo;only comment that we have provided to the department (that is truly all I know). That is the process.&rdquo;</em></span></p>

Our lease remains secure until 2035, the parliamentary petition debate and Cumberland City Council&rsquo;s call for a Portfolio Committee No. 4 inquiry are still live, and community opposition remains strong and coordinated.</span></p>

<h2><em><u><span style="mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';">Weather and Rainfall</span></u></em></h2>
<p class="MsoNormal">Hooley dooley, what a ride it has been this past month. While the average maximum temperature hovered just over 30 degrees, which might not seem too extreme, the humidity was relentless and made conditions challenging. February brought an impressive 190mm of rain, with a staggering 138mm falling within just over two hours right before the Carnarvon Cup. As a result, by the end of summer our main dams were completely full, and the course profile was thoroughly waterlogged. Here&rsquo;s hoping for a much drier Autumn ahead.</p>
<h2><em><u><span style="mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';">Greens</span></u></em></h2>
<p class="MsoNormal">Despite the difficult weather, the greens have thrived and continued to improve. There is now full coverage across all green surfaces, and the plant health is excellent. The combination of warmth, rainfall, and humidity typically creates ideal conditions for pests and disease, but our greens have remained free from both. As anticipated, green speeds dipped slightly but stayed above the 9&rsquo;6&rdquo; benchmark.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Renovations were carried out under tough conditions and went as well as could be expected. The greens were verti-drained using 8mm hollow tines, then lightly sanded, rolled, and had soil amendments added. Subsequent rainfall helped to wash in the last of the sand, and we were able to cut the greens at 4mm just three days later. The cutting height will be gradually reduced to the standard 3-3.5mm over the coming days.</p>
<h2><em><u><span style="mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';">Tees</span></u></em></h2>
<p class="MsoNormal">Couch grass has flourished in the current climate, which suits its preference for heat, rain, and humidity. As a result, the tees are in excellent condition, boasting full cover and a thick, healthy sward. New turf areas on holes 3 and 12 were opened for play in early February.<strong> Unfortunately, these areas suffered considerable damage from</strong> <strong>members, who failed to properly care for the turf,</strong> rarely filling divots with sand. Because of this, the new turf areas have been withdrawn from regular play. The team has worked hard to prepare and maintain these areas, as they have with all tees, making the situation especially disappointing.</p>
<h2><em><u><span style="mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';">Fairways</span></u></em></h2>
<p class="MsoNormal">Like the couch grass, the Kikuyu fairways have responded positively to February&rsquo;s climate. To manage the vigorous growth, mowing frequency was increased to three times a week, alongside regular nutrition and applications of plant growth regulator. However, the drain area on the 4<sup>th</sup> fairway has become problematic due to a completely blocked stormwater pipe. We are actively working behind the scenes to identify the best solution for this issue.</p>
<h2><em><u><span style="mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';">Bunkers</span></u></em></h2>
<p class="MsoNormal">The bunkers held up well until the heavy rainfall at the end of the month, after which they suffered some damage and loss of sand. We will be working through the bunkers to repair damage and replace the washed-out sand. On a positive note, the new bunkers on holes 11 and 9 performed exceptionally well; the recently installed drainage systems proved effective, as barely a grain of sand was out of place.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;" align="center"><strong>Members are reminded to avoid walking up the face of these bunkers and to always enter and exit from the lowest point</strong>.</p>
