<p class="MsoNoSpacing">September was one of the driest months we’ve had for some
time, with no rain at all falling until the very last week. The warm
temperatures and strong winds helped to dry the course out very quickly after
what was a wet Winter. The end of the month produced 51mm of rain in 2 days and
this was followed up by another 6mm on the 1<sup>st</sup> of October.<br><br>The Greens recovered extremely well from the renovations
and the surfaces are true, firm and fast and have handled the wind and warm
weather in September very well. Green speed averaged 10’4” during September. The
rain at the end of the month produced some puddling on the greens but this
drained away quite quickly. We are trialling new wetting agents which have been
formulated to help pull water from the surface, holding it in the root zone,
while increasing oxygen in the profile. This has helped to keep surfaces firm,
along with our amendment program, during the rainy weather.<br><br>Pitch marks though currently not easy to make due to the
firmness of the greens are not always being repaired correctly. It is essential
that all members take the time to repair pitch marks. These pitch marks not
only upset the roll of your putt, but also create an entry point for pest and
disease to enter the plant.</p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><a href="https://www.facebook.com/share/v/wFvxrPEdDDoocqvZ/"><u>Click here to view Pitch Repair Video</u></a><a href="https://www.facebook.com/share/v/wFvxrPEdDDoocqvZ/" style="color: red;"></a><font color="#ff0000"><br><br></font>Tees have started to kick on with the warmer weather and
the rain. Tee surfaces are clean of any weeds and are expected to power into
spring. Once again, I’d like to see an improvement from our members with
filling divots on tees.<br><br>Our par 3’s need players to extra attention to filling in
divots if we are to maintain good coverage coming into the warmer months.<br><br>Members are reminded that the back 7<sup>th</sup> tee is
not to be used unless the markers are in place.<br><br>Rain at the end of the month enhanced the appearance of
the fairways although some water pooled in some of the low areas. The water did
drain away reasonably quickly once the sun came out.<br><br>During September 400m of turf was laid over bare areas on
several fairways and all of that is establishing quite well. Turfing will
continue in November/December as the weather allows.<br><br>Insecticide/miticide applications will be carried out in
early October as well as Nutrition &amp; growth regulation. Renovation and soil
amendments are scheduled for November, depending on weather.<br><br>All bunkers have been edged and had sand either added or
moved around. Bunkers performed well in September but as we all know; they
don’t appreciate heavy rain. In stating that, only 2 bunkers needed to be taken
out of play after the 50mm the day before the first round of Championships. The
faces of the 5<sup>th</sup> bunkers have grown in well and will be in play very
soon.<br><br>Tree work was carried out on the 13<sup>th</sup>,
removing the last of the dead trees in that area. Further work on 9, 8, 6 and 5

<p class="MsoNormal">Dear Members,<br><br>I am pleased to advise that Gene Levette has accepted the
Boards invitation to be our Club Patron.<br><br>Gene will be known to many of you as he has been a member of
Carnarvon for 35 years.&nbsp; He has served&nbsp;as a Board member for 22
years, including 6 years as Vice President,&nbsp;finishing his service when he
was not reelected in May of this year.&nbsp; His knowledge of the club and its
history is a valuable resource that we will no doubt call on in his role as
Patron.<br><br>As the Patron Gene will play a significant and multi faceted
role within the club.&nbsp; Some aspects of the role include being the Clubs
most enthusiastic supporter, promoting the club within&nbsp;the community and
at events, being called upon for advice&nbsp;and guidance on various matters,
attracting new members and sponsors to the club and serving as a role model for
our members.<br><br>Gene is eminently&nbsp;qualified to be successful&nbsp;in
all of those areas and the&nbsp;Board looks forward to&nbsp;working with him

<p class="MsoNormal">Dear Members,<br><br>I am writing to inform you that our Club Patron Nick Stoves
has written to the Board informing us that due to ongoing health challenges he
is stepping down from the role of Patron.<br><br>Nick has a long history with Carnarvon having been a member
for nearly 50 years.&nbsp; He served on the Board for 24 years with 3 of those
years being as Vice President and 6 years as the President. His significant
contribution to the Club was recognised when the members elected him as a life
member in 2018.&nbsp; In his time as Patron he has continued to support the
club and during&nbsp;my time as President has been a welcome sounding board for
issues that have arisen.&nbsp; I have always appreciated his counsel. <br><br>The Board, on behalf of all staff and members, wish Nick all
the best as he continues to address his health issues and we hope that the
medical treatment he is receiving allows him to be back around the club more

<p class="MsoNoSpacing">August was an interesting month weather-wise with just
25mm of rain falling on an already soaked golf course. The average maximum
temperature was 21 degrees with a couple of days in the high 20’s thrown in at
the end of the month.<br><br>Our greens have come through Winter very well with full grass
coverage and great health. The greens renovations were carried out successfully
mid-month with 3/8” hollow tines removing cores. Approximately 40 tonne of sand
was applied in the form of top dressing followed by soil amendments. The greens
recovered well and we were able to return to 3mm cutting height within 10 days.<br><br>Green speeds prior to renovations were sitting around the
10’2” range and have returned to 10’ since renovations just 3 weeks ago. A
second light dust will be carried out mid-September to assist in maintaining a
smooth firm surface for the Championships at the end of the month.<br><br>Early applications of preventative insecticide have been
carried out as we are expecting an early hatch of insect activity this year
given the warmer temperatures. In all I’m very pleased with the way our greens
are performing.<br><br>Winter was not kind to our tees, but they have come
through quite well. The couch grass has begun to green up with the sun and warm
temperatures. As with greens, tees received an early hit with preventative
insecticides along with a feed to encourage root growth and plant health. The tees
have remained clean of any weed, including winter grass, or disease<br><br>I’m expecting the tees to be in great shape by the time
Championships roll around and our annual Tee renovations are scheduled for
November.<br><br>Once again, I’m very happy with the condition of our
fairways outside of the Ground Pearl and flood affected areas. It has not taken
long for them to dry out with the wind and warm temperature experienced at the
end of August and early September. We are already seeing an effect of this
drying out on plant health and patching of bare patches is back on the agenda. Patching
will continue throughout Spring as the weather allows. Amendments are scheduled
for application in early September.<br><br>Tree work has been carried out on the 13<sup>th</sup>
with further work scheduled for the beginning of September on the 13<sup>th</sup>,

<p class="MsoNoSpacing">It is hard to believe only 52mm of rain fell in July
given how wet the course is. The water table is full resulting in any rain
sitting on the surface and unable to soak into the ground. July was a cool, wet
month with an average maximum temperature of 17 degrees.<br><br>The greens are in tip top condition as we head into the
final month of Winter and are firm and fast as is usual for Winter. This month
has been no different, with an average speed of 10’ 3”. We have reduced cutting
frequency in to keep green speed under control. The greens have remained
disease free which is good considering the wet and overcast weather. Course renovations
are scheduled to start on the 21<sup>st</sup> of August.<br><br>At this time of year, the tees are as close to dormant as
you will see for Santa ana Couch grass, and they remain clean of any weed or
disease. The 3<sup>rd</sup> tee has held up well during Winter and I am
expecting it to power on into Spring and Summer with the individual nutrition program
we have in place for it.<br><br>Just another reminder to all members to please use the
sand bins provided to <b>fill your divots on tees</b>, particularly on the Par
3 tees.<br><br>The fairways have obviously suffered in some areas with
water damage, but outside of these areas the fairways are fantastic. We will
pick up our turfing program in the beginning of Spring to continue removing
Ground Pearl patches. Fairways will also receive an application of Lime to help
amend soil.<br><br>Tree work has been carried out on the 9<sup>th</sup> and
13<sup>th</sup> with 7 dead trees removed. This will continue in September as

<p class="MsoNoSpacing">What a cold, wet and miserable start to Winter. 167mm of
rainfall is the exact opposite of what we needed this month. Cool temperatures
and a couple mild frosts certainly haven’t helped the situation either.<br><br>The greens are performing flawlessly given the
environment. Greens are clean of any pest or disease and green speeds are around
9’5” which is a little slower than normal for this time of year but can be
explained by constant rainfall slowing them down. An Air2G2 machine was brought
in earlier in June to directly pump air into the soil profile and we’ve seen
great results from this. I intend to make this a regular part of our management
program during wetter times. Applications of Dolomite have been scheduled in
for the winter months to replenish greens with magnesium and calcium which has
been flushed out with all the rain.<br><br>As is the winter norm the tees are well and truly asleep
with little growth occurring. The 3<sup>rd</sup> tee is holding up with the extra

to patch fairway bare areas in July and August.<br><br>The 9<sup>th</sup> bunker is complete after several
weather delays. The gravel layer was sprayed on the 26<sup>th</sup> of June,
sand has been added and the bunker will be in play shortly. As expected it has

<p class="MsoNoSpacing">Most of 129mm of rain we experienced fell in the middle
of the month resulting in another wet month. We know autumn is here when the average
maximum temperature for the month is 21<sup><span style="font-size:10.0pt"> </span></sup>degrees.
Heavy rain at the beginning of May has ensured our start to Winter will be much
soggier than we would like. The weather has such a massive impact on our day-to-day
maintenance and programming, as you’ll see throughout the report.<br><br>Given the amount of rainfall and traffic received by the
greens over the last month, I’m very happy with their condition. Speeds have
increased to an average of 10’ 2”. Cutting frequency has been decreased
slightly to keep on top of speeds. We have seen a few small patches of fungal
disease in some areas due to the prolonged wet weather and cloud cover.
However, these patches are very small and are of no consequence to the golf
ball. Early June will see the use of the “Air2G2” over our greens. This is a
form of aeration where hollow tines are pushed down into the profile and
pressurised air is expelled into the soil. This will help relieve compaction
and assist with air and water movement within the soil profile without the
disruption of verti-draining.<br><br>The tees are well on their way to dormancy. Couch grass on
the tee tops has all but stopped growing. With this, I highlight once again the
importance of <b>repairing divots on tees</b>, particularly the par 3 tees. A
second application of selective herbicide has been applied to tees to control
the invasion of Kikuyu. Pigment will be applied throughout winter to keep the
colour up and promote as much growth as possible.<br><br>I am very happy with fairway surfaces going into Winter.
Some areas have suffered with run off and water sitting in low areas. Light rates
of fertiliser have been applied to promote some growth. Non-chemical
control/preventative applications for fungal disease have also gone out as
disease pressure remains high given the wet weather, cooler temperatures and
shorter days. We will look at the possibility of applying a pigment in June
depending on colour and turf quality/presentation.<br><br>The bunkers have been on a bit of a roller coaster ride
during May. The wet weather obviously had an effect on them but they recovered
well once they dried out. Unfortunately, they didn’t get much time in the sun
as the rain returned late in the month and continued in early June. Work has
commenced on the 9<sup>th</sup> bunker with old sand and drainage being
removed. New drainage has been installed and the gravel layer will be going in

<p class="MsoNoSpacing">Autumn has arrived! The average maximum temperature is 25
degrees and there was 234mm of rainfall during March. Further rain has fallen
in early May, providing us with a wet and soggy leading into winter.<br><br>The greens have handled the wet weather very well. We
applied some extra Gypsum and did a solid tine verti-draining in the wetter
areas &nbsp;which kept them in tip top
condition throughout April. The back edge of the 1<sup>st</sup> green along
with the front of the 18<sup>th</sup> have had and will have further light top
dressing of sand to improve water run off and infiltration in those areas.<br><br>Selective herbicide has been applied to green edges to
control the invasion of Kikuyu into the greens and a second application was
applied to Couch collars for the same reason. Growth regulator will remain in
the program for Autumn and into winter to help maintain green speed and
density.<br><br>As expected, the tees have begun to slow down with the
cooler weather. With the slower recovery I once again <b>ask all players to
fill your divots on tees, and at least one more for those who fail to do so.<br><br></b>A selective herbicide and pre-emergent have been applied
to tees to suppress Kikuyu growth and stop Poa from germinating. Soil
amendment, root growth stimulators and foliar feeds have also been applied to
boost tees into Winter. The 3<sup>rd</sup> tee continues to hold on with the
extra attention it’s been receiving and I will continue to monitor and manage
wear on that tee.<br><br>Fairways enjoyed March and handled the weather in April reasonably
well. They are beginning to struggle with the continuing rain in early May,
holding water in the lower areas.<br><br>Turfing of Ground Pearl patches on fairways has wrapped
up for the season with further patching scheduled for September/October when
weather warms up again. The scarified areas are recovering beautifully with
fresh dark growth. We will see the benefit of this into next season with the
reduction of thatch providing a better, flatter surface. I hope to scarify and
hollow core all fairways in Spring this year, when we will also trial a
different method of Ground Pearl patch repair.&nbsp; <br><br>Bunker performance improved during April with drain and
sand rejuvenation work carried out early in the month. By the end of the month
though, performance began to subside as the old sand just couldn’t cope. As I
said last month, work will be carried out in bunkers as weather allows.<br><br>We have begun the process of repairing some blocked storm
water pipes, most notable of these is the main pipeline that runs under the 16<sup>th</sup>
fairway. The drain on the 2<sup>nd</sup> green is also in the process of being

<p><b>Carnarvon Golf Club</b> began in 1927 when the game was played on an informal basis before being regularised at the first Annual General Meeting in August, 1928. The first President was Alderman W.R. Atkinson of Lidcombe Council and one of the Vice-Presidents was the Hon. J.T. Lang, Premier of New South Wales.</p><p>The course which measured 4277 yards with a bogey of 75, was situated on the northern side of Parramatta Road and covered the following area :<br></p><ul><li>Western Boundary: Wetherill St.<br></li><li>Northern Boundary: Derby St.</li><li>Eastern Boundary: Haslam’s Creek and Hill Road.</li><li>Southern Boundary: Adderley St. Day St. then Parramatta Road to Hill Road.</li></ul><p>The area covered by the course included vacant proposed factory sites, unmade roads, an agistment paddock of the State Abbatoirs and portion of Southian’s dairy. The greens were the natural grasses mowed at the weekends by the members’ own push mowers. The holes were jam tins.<br></p><p>The course was named after a large sign, visible from Parramatta Road, advertising factory sites for sale on Carnarvon Hill Estate. This sign is regarded as the first clubhouse as members drove nails into it on which to hang their coats and other paraphernalia.<br></p><p>The first real clubhouse, known as “the Shack, was erected in 1929 on the corner of Day and Derby Streets and comprised two rooms, one 10 feet by 10 feet for members and the other 8 feet by 8 feet for associates with a 9 feet by 4 feet verandah. In 1931 the old Auburn Ambulance Station was purchased, towed to the site and added to The Shack.<br></p><p>As tenure over the original course was tenuous at best a move was made to what became known as the “old course” in late 1932 with the official opening in 1933.The old course was located to the north of Fariola St. and occupied two paddocks owned by Newington State Hospital and a paddock to the south of Holker St. owned by Lidcombe Council. The lease from Newington State Hospital was for fifteen years under permissive occupancy tenure and covered tees and greens only. The greens were enclosed with post and rail fences as protection from our bovine co-tenants of the hospital dairy herd.<br></p><p>The clubhouse was moved to the northern side of the eastern end of Fariola St in 1933 when extensive additions and alterations were effected.<br></p><p>Things moved along swimmingly for the next ten years or so until the outbreak of World WarII. Our biggest disaster came on 8 March, 1943 when the clubhouse and the top paddock were taken over by the US Navy necessitating yet another move. It was decided to continue with a nine hole course consisting of the bottom paddock for seven holes with the remaining two holes in the council paddock. This became known as the Silverwater course. To accommodate a Clubhouse the committee resolved on 20 April, 1043 to purchase thecottage in Clyde St. Auburn and the adjacent eleven vacant blocks for 470 pounds Following the convention of the time it was necessary to pay 100 pounds “key money” to obtain vacant possession of the property. With renovations the cottage served as a Clubhouse until the move to the present course. The old cottage went through many years of modification, renovation, partial demolition and rebirth as a motor boat club, Auburn Businessman’s Club and is currently Dooley’s On The Water.<br></p><p>The move to the present course was foreshadowed as early as 1943. The new course was an amalgamation of two contiguous areas separated by Walters Rd. which originally ran through from Nottinghill Rd to Joseph St. The area between Leila St. and Walters Rd. was the Lidcombe Sports and Showground and the area between Walters Rd and Amy St was the western grazing paddock of Lidcombe State Hospital for its prize winning herd of Holstein dairy cows. The areas were amalgamated, Walters Rd closed and the area leased to Carnarvon Golf Club in 1947. The course was built between the years 1947 to 1949 to a design by Arthur East. The Clubhouse was built over the same period. Due to the difficulty in obtaining building material in the post-war years the Clubhouse was built from material obtained by demolishing the Fariola St building together with the Liverpool and Lidcombe Soldiers’ Halls.<br></p><p>The Clubhouse and new course were opened in December, 1949. Additions and renovations kept the building functional until 1998 when the Club came under increasing pressure to bring the structure up to the required standards. The cost involved was considered uneconomic considering the condition of the underpinnings. The Board voted to build a new Clubhouse and then demolish the old building. This was completed in December, 1999.<br></p><p>Our present course presented a horticultural challenge to the earlier Committees and course superintendents as they battled with an area of poor clay based soil, gravel patches and rock outcrops. The Committee tendered for and won the contract to remove manure from the holding paddocks at Flemington Saleyards on the site of the present Flemington Markets. The contract ran from 1957 to 1963 and most fairways were covered to a depth of six to eight inches with mostly sheep manure. This was done half a fairway width at a time to enable play to continue. This combined with automatic fairway and greens watering of more recent years coupled with extensive drainage projects, has produced the lush course we have today.</p><p><br></p><p>To quote the late C.W.Phillips President, from his address at the A.G.M. of 27th March, 1943 :-<br></p><p><i>“Finally we have a good Club built by ourselves for ourselves and those we are happy to have with us and the old Carnarvon spirit will win through notwithstanding”</i><br></p>

          <h3>GOLF CARTS</h3>
          <p>We have 24 fully maintained Golf Carts for your use at $50 per cart for 18 holes. Hand pulled buggies must have wide tyres. Alternatively, these may be hired from the Proshop at $5 each.</p>
          <h3>EQUIPMENT HIRE</h3>
          <p>Club hire is available for both left and right handed players. These can be hired from the Proshop at a cost of $25 per set.</p>
          <h3>DRESS RULES</h3>
          <p>We wish to maintain a dress standard commensurate with the game of golf. For men, tailored shorts and trousers, shirts must have sleeves and collars. White short socks may be worn with a length of at least 75mm above the ankle.</p>
          <p>Items such as football jumpers and shorts, stubbies, brief shorts, athletic shorts and singlets, tracksuits, beach attire, dirty and worn clothes are not appropriate. Any person arriving for golf not properly attired will not be allowed on the course.</p>
          <h3>DRINKS ON THE COURSE</h3>
          <p>A drinks cart is available for hire at a cost of $40 per hour with a minimum of 3 hours. A staff member is included in this charge to drive the cart in accordance with RSA law. All beverages must be purchased from the Club.</p>
          <h3>BOOKINGS</h3>
          <p>Tentative bookings will be held for a period of 10 days only, after which time the date will be released. A non-refundable deposit of $500 is to be paid with each confirmed booking. If the function proceeds, the total deposit will be credited to the customer’s account.</p>
          <p>Menus, beverage arrangements, entertainment, audio-visual requirements, room plans, starting and finishing times must be confirmed in writing 14 days prior to the function.</p>
          <p>Final numbers must be confirmed no later than 7 days prior to the day of the event. These numbers may be increased up to 48 hours prior to the day, but not decreased.</p>

We are still so thankful to everyone who contributed to the days success.<br /><br />Brain cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in children, and adults aged under 40 in Australia, yet alarmingly very little is known about brain cancer, its causes or how its treated. </span></p>

<p><span style="color: #000000; font-size: 14px;">Subscription levels are set annually by the Board each year, commencing 1 September. Subscription rates may be adjusted to reflect a pro rata amount, relative to the remaining months of the financial year.</span></p>

<li>Please ensure that all sections of your application form have been completed in full. An incomplete form may delay your application.</li>
<li>Application forms are available from the reception area of the Club, or may be filled out via our online membership form.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Completed application forms can be submitted to the office in person or electronically.</li>
<li>Please note, a non-refundable application fee of $350 is required to secure a place on the Carnarvon Golf Club wait list. This excludes those applying for Intermediate 1, Junior or Sub Cadet Categories. The application fee is non-transferrable</li>
<li>Payments can be made by cheque or cash if an application is submitted in person. Applications sent by email, must make payment via credit card.</li>

<li>Once an application form has been received, the form will be posted onto our Members' Notice Board for a period of not less than 7 days.</li>
<li>The application will be considered at the next Board of Directors Meeting. The Board reserves the right to reject any application without providing a reason for their decision. In the event an application is rejected, the application fee will be refunded.</li>
<li>All applicants will be invited to and must attend an interview with the respective Captains.</li>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: 107%;"><span lang="EN-US">Following the January 2026 update, we have received further direct communication from Metropolitan Memorial Parks (MMP). This provides important clarity on the consultation feedback process, and I wanted to share it with you immediately.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: 107%;">&nbsp;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: 107%;"><strong><span lang="EN-US">Current Situation as of 20 March 2026</span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: 107%;">&nbsp;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: 107%;"><span lang="EN-US">Yesterday (19 March 2026) MMP CEO Denise Ora advised:<br /></span><em><span lang="EN-US">&ldquo;MMP has now completed their collation and consolidation of the consultation feedback and have provided this to the Department of Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure.&rdquo;</span></em></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: 107%;">&nbsp;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: 107%;"><span lang="EN-US">She confirmed that their website will be updated with this wording. However, when asked whether this also means the report has been supplied to the Minister, Ms. Ora stated she <em>&ldquo;can&rsquo;t comment that it means it is with the Minister yet&rdquo;</em> and can <em>&ldquo;only comment that we have provided to the department (that is truly all I know). That is the process.&rdquo;</em></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: 107%;">&nbsp;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: 107%;"><span lang="EN-US">She also undertook to advise on any additional updates <em>&ldquo;as and when I can.&rdquo;</em></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: 107%;"><span lang="EN-US">No timeline was provided for the public release of the report or for sharing it with key stakeholders (including Carnarvon Golf Club), despite the earlier commitment from MMP Chairman Ken Morrison. This will be the question we continue to ask.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: 107%;"><span lang="EN-US">The proposal itself remains under active review with no final decision made by Minister Kamper or the Government. Our lease remains secure until 2035, the parliamentary petition debate and Cumberland City Council&rsquo;s call for a Portfolio Committee No. 4 inquiry are still live, and community opposition remains strong and coordinated.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Hooley dooley, what a ride it has been this past month. While the average maximum temperature hovered just over 30 degrees, which might not seem too extreme, the humidity was relentless and made conditions challenging. February brought an impressive 190mm of rain, with a staggering 138mm falling within just over two hours right before the Carnarvon Cup. As a result, by the end of summer our main dams were completely full, and the course profile was thoroughly waterlogged. Here&rsquo;s hoping for a much drier Autumn ahead.</p>
<h2><em><u><span style="mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';">Greens</span></u></em></h2>
<p class="MsoNormal">Despite the difficult weather, the greens have thrived and continued to improve. There is now full coverage across all green surfaces, and the plant health is excellent. The combination of warmth, rainfall, and humidity typically creates ideal conditions for pests and disease, but our greens have remained free from both. As anticipated, green speeds dipped slightly but stayed above the 9&rsquo;6&rdquo; benchmark.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Renovations were carried out under tough conditions and went as well as could be expected. The greens were verti-drained using 8mm hollow tines, then lightly sanded, rolled, and had soil amendments added. Subsequent rainfall helped to wash in the last of the sand, and we were able to cut the greens at 4mm just three days later. The cutting height will be gradually reduced to the standard 3-3.5mm over the coming days.</p>
<h2><em><u><span style="mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';">Tees</span></u></em></h2>
<p class="MsoNormal">Couch grass has flourished in the current climate, which suits its preference for heat, rain, and humidity. As a result, the tees are in excellent condition, boasting full cover and a thick, healthy sward. New turf areas on holes 3 and 12 were opened for play in early February.<strong> Unfortunately, these areas suffered considerable damage from</strong> <strong>members, who failed to properly care for the turf,</strong> rarely filling divots with sand. Because of this, the new turf areas have been withdrawn from regular play. The team has worked hard to prepare and maintain these areas, as they have with all tees, making the situation especially disappointing.</p>
<h2><em><u><span style="mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';">Fairways</span></u></em></h2>
<p class="MsoNormal">Like the couch grass, the Kikuyu fairways have responded positively to February&rsquo;s climate. To manage the vigorous growth, mowing frequency was increased to three times a week, alongside regular nutrition and applications of plant growth regulator. However, the drain area on the 4<sup>th</sup> fairway has become problematic due to a completely blocked stormwater pipe. We are actively working behind the scenes to identify the best solution for this issue.</p>
<h2><em><u><span style="mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';">Bunkers</span></u></em></h2>
<p class="MsoNormal">The bunkers held up well until the heavy rainfall at the end of the month, after which they suffered some damage and loss of sand. We will be working through the bunkers to repair damage and replace the washed-out sand. On a positive note, the new bunkers on holes 11 and 9 performed exceptionally well; the recently installed drainage systems proved effective, as barely a grain of sand was out of place.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;" align="center"><strong>Members are reminded to avoid walking up the face of these bunkers and to always enter and exit from the lowest point</strong>.</p>
