to update you on our ongoing efforts to secure the future of Carnarvon Golf
Club. &nbsp;Our lease remains in place until
2035, and with your support, we are fully committed to maintaining and
protecting this vital community space for generations to come.<o:p></o:p>Since my last letter, we’ve

unanimously supported a motion to opposing the proposal to repurpose Carnarvon

Carnarvon Golf Course Update to Members and Local Residents

February brought 57mm of rainfall and an average maximum
temperature of 29 degrees. The month started with warm days exceeding 30
degrees but settled into the high 20s, ending with the warmest days of the
summer. Regular rain kept the dams full and the course green.February is typically the most challenging month for cool
season turf maintenance due to high nighttime temperatures and humidity
promoting pest and disease activity. Despite this, the greens performed well
with no recorded disease or pest damage and consistent speeds averaging 9’7”. Scheduled
renovations were carried out in early March using small hollow tines, followed
by soil amendments and sand application. Selective herbicide applications will
continue for Kikuyu encroachment.Santa Ana couch grass on tees is thriving with the warm
weather. Tees received a synthetic fertilizer application in February and have
responded positively. Divots on tees remain an issue due to insufficient
filling. Autumn will involve selective herbicide applications to remove Kikuyu
and pre-emergent treatments to prevent Poa germination. An organic fertilizer
is scheduled to aid growth into winter.Ground Pearl infestations are affecting fairway conditions.
Kikuyu and couch grass are growing well outside the affected areas. Regular Plant
Growth Regulator applications have managed thatch, although some areas are
beginning to develop. Black Beetle populations increased significantly late
February but have been controlled. Trials on Ground Pearl control are ongoing.

January was a bit of a mixed bag weather-wise. The average
max was 280, with 10 days above 300 and 4 of those were above
350. Rainfall of 127mm made for some decent grass growing weather
and as we head into the hardest 4-6 weeks of the year, we are hoping for some
damp weather (overnight rain) to keep everything nice and green. The greens withstood the rigours of high temperatures and
heavy pest/disease pressure with ease during January. Some small, damaged
patches on the 2nd,13th,14thand 15th
from December’s irrigation system issue are recovering well, although some more
plugs may be needed in one or two areas. Regular rain prevented the scheduled
dusting of greens going ahead in January, but we will pick this back up as
weather and golf calendar allow during February. The Greens were verti-drained
with solid tines early in the month and will be again in early February. Autumn
renovations are scheduled for Sunday the 2nd of March. This will be
a minor renovation consisting of small hollow tines, rolling, topdressing and
soil amendments. Further selective herbicide applications will also be carried
out in March/April to control Kikuyu/Couch encroachment around green edges, as
well as Kikuyu encroachment on Couch collars. Green speed remained consistent
with the average being 9’6” for January. Our tees are thoroughly enjoying the summer conditions
and are really showing the benefit of renovation and amendments from earlier in
the season. The 3rd tee is powering along and would be in the best
condition it’s been in for some time. Its condition can be attributed to the
intensive care it received over Winter and Spring. This will be ongoing for the
3rd tee to keep it in the best possible condition. All tees will
receive a synthetic slow-release feed in February to push them into Autumn,
followed by an organic and Calcium amendment prior to Easter. Once again though I remind all golfers to please
repair your divots, particularly on Par 3 tees. There’s nothing Kikuyu loves more than warm weather and
regular rainfall. The fairways are also powering along now. In fact, the only
thing between them and perfection is Ground Pearl. The battle against Ground
Pearl will continue in early Autumn with heavily affected areas being turfed.
Further trials of new control methods will begin here at Carnarvon in mid to
late February. Fairway height has remained at 12mm and so far, with regular plant
growth regulator (PGR) applications, have remained mostly thatch free. This
condition will be monitored though and as they begin their annual “thatch up”
we may need to adjust cutting height slightly. Emergency tree work was carried out after storms brought
down a large Eucalypt outside the front entrance. Tree maintenance will
continue once approvals come back from Council. The front fence which was

Welcome to Summer 2024/25. The average Max temperature
was 30.8o and 17 days were over 30 o. The 53mm of
rainfall has helped to keep things green and the dams were full for our first
31 days of summer.The greens performed exceptionally well and handled the
heat and wind of December. I am very happy with the condition and resilience
they have shown throughout December and the speeds averaged 9’5” throughout the
month.Despite an irrigation system failure on Christmas Eve,
which meant the greens went without water for nearly 48 hours in very warm
weather, only a few greens struggled. At most we lost a couple of metres of
turf, in total, over the hectare of greens. Plugs of Bent grass will be put
into these few areas to help speed up recovery.The greens will be Verti-Drained in early January to help
the air movement within the soil profile. Regular dusting will be carried out
to help minimise thatch build up and to aid infiltration. The health and
well-being of the greens takes priority, and we may be required to run short
irrigation cycles of an afternoon on hotter days.The tees recovered well from their renovation and are
coping well enough with the weather. Some tees have dried out due to varying
environmental factors, but all maintain a full coverage.Divot filling/repair and playing from the white plates

Regular irrigation coupled with rain has kept them emerald, green. The high
temperatures and strong winds have slowed them up a bit heading into January though,
and the warm dry weather highlights our Ground Pearl population as infected
turf struggles to survive the heat. Renovated areas are showing signs of
improvement and some regular rainfall would be nice to help these patches
along.The bunkers behaved for December with the drier weather.
As rotary hoe was used to turn bunker sand over, with the hope that it would
aid drainage and improve playability. The results were good but unfortunately
short lived and the bunkers flooded again with the very heavy rain in early

November weather was similar to October’s weather with
an average maximum of 26 degrees. A string of mid to high 30-degree days at the
end of the month gave us an un-invited taste of what’s to come this summer.<o:p></o:p>There was a total of 60mm of rain with 25mm of that falling
in one day. <o:p></o:p>Greens’ renovations, 10mm hollow tines, were carried
out as planned on the 10th and 11th of November. The greens
have come back very well with the first cut being at 4mm just 5 days after
renovations took place. The greens have softened up a bit since then with the
rainfall and the slight change in management practices shifting towards
surviving the summer. In saying that though, they are in excellent condition
and all very healthy with full coverage as we head into the hardest 10 weeks of
the year. <o:p></o:p>Average green speed is down to 9’6” as expected after
renovations.<o:p></o:p>Tees are coming along nicely with the warmer weather.
Tee renovation work commenced in late November and should be completed early in
December with minimal disruption to golf. Tee renovation consists of coring
with half inch hollow tines, cores removed followed by the rubbing in of loose
soil with a steel drag mat then cut. Soil amendments in the form of Gypsum and
organics are then applied.<o:p></o:p>Our fairways are also in great condition, loving the
warm weather and regular rainfall. Some areas have seen an explosion in Ground
Pearl activity, but action has been taken to get control of this pest.<o:p></o:p>The cores from the tee renovations have been collected
and used on bare Ground Pearl patches in fairways in an attempt to establish
Couch grass. <o:p></o:p>November also saw some fairway renovations carried out
with the “aerovator” attachment on the Ventrac machine being used to break up
some of the harder areas, allowing air, water and hopefully Couch to get in
with minimal disruption to the surface. In all though, I’m very happy with the
progress of our fairways and I’d say we are slowly winning the battle against
Ground Pearl. <o:p></o:p>The bunkers performed fairly well up until a big storm
on Dec 1. The 7th bunker has been repaired after the irrigation
blowout. Twenty tonnes of sand has been added to the bunker which is now ker is
back in play. The other bunkers have all been edged and faces mown as per our regular

Spring
has certainly sprung!&nbsp;<o:p></o:p>&nbsp;October
recorded an average maximum of 25 degrees, with a couple of days over 30 degrees&nbsp;to get us in the mood for
summer. The 51mm of rainfall helped to&nbsp; keep things nice and green and the
dams full.<o:p></o:p>&nbsp;The
Greens performed absolutely beautifully during October and for the
Championships. The surfaces were firm and true with speeds averaging 10’ 5”. A
mini coring is scheduled for the 10th&nbsp;and 11th&nbsp;of November and&nbsp; we are trialling a new product for the control of warm
season grass such as Kikuyu and Couch encroaching into the edges of our greens.
So far this is working well and I’m looking to have all greens done by the time
we do renovations. The collars on the 15th&nbsp;and
the 18th&nbsp;will be sprayed out and replaced with Couch in November continuing
the&nbsp;project to get all collars uniform and remove the “step” around green
edges.&nbsp;<o:p></o:p>&nbsp;The
tees are starting to pick up with the warmer nighttime temperatures. Tee
renovations will be similar to the greens renovations with hollow tine coring
and amendment application, scheduled for the end of November.&nbsp;<o:p></o:p>&nbsp;Fairways
have been very good throughout October. Several areas have been turfed where
Ground Pearl are present and fairway renovation is also scheduled for November.
This year we will be breaking up the surfaces with an attachment on our Ventrac
called an “aerovator”, before applying 5 tonnes of gypsum.&nbsp;<o:p></o:p>&nbsp;The
5th&nbsp;bunker face repair has been completed and both are now in play. The 7th&nbsp;bunker face has been built out
by a metre and re-turfed. Sand will be added once the bunker is ready to return
to play.&nbsp;<o:p></o:p>&nbsp;Tree
work was carried out on the 5th&nbsp;,6th&nbsp;&amp; 9th&nbsp;with dead trees being removed,
some branches trimmed and stumps ground.&nbsp;<o:p></o:p>

September was one of the driest months we’ve had for some
time, with no rain at all falling until the very last week. The warm
temperatures and strong winds helped to dry the course out very quickly after
what was a wet Winter. The end of the month produced 51mm of rain in 2 days and
this was followed up by another 6mm on the 1st of October. The Greens recovered extremely well from the renovations
and the surfaces are true, firm and fast and have handled the wind and warm
weather in September very well. Green speed averaged 10’4” during September. The
rain at the end of the month produced some puddling on the greens but this
drained away quite quickly. We are trialling new wetting agents which have been
formulated to help pull water from the surface, holding it in the root zone,
while increasing oxygen in the profile. This has helped to keep surfaces firm,
along with our amendment program, during the rainy weather. Pitch marks though currently not easy to make due to the
firmness of the greens are not always being repaired correctly. It is essential
that all members take the time to repair pitch marks. These pitch marks not
only upset the roll of your putt, but also create an entry point for pest and

the rain. Tee surfaces are clean of any weeds and are expected to power into
spring. Once again, I’d like to see an improvement from our members with
filling divots on tees. Our par 3’s need players to extra attention to filling in
divots if we are to maintain good coverage coming into the warmer months. Members are reminded that the back 7th tee is
not to be used unless the markers are in place. Rain at the end of the month enhanced the appearance of
the fairways although some water pooled in some of the low areas. The water did
drain away reasonably quickly once the sun came out. During September 400m of turf was laid over bare areas on
several fairways and all of that is establishing quite well. Turfing will
continue in November/December as the weather allows. Insecticide/miticide applications will be carried out in
early October as well as Nutrition &amp; growth regulation. Renovation and soil
amendments are scheduled for November, depending on weather. All bunkers have been edged and had sand either added or
moved around. Bunkers performed well in September but as we all know; they
don’t appreciate heavy rain. In stating that, only 2 bunkers needed to be taken
out of play after the 50mm the day before the first round of Championships. The
faces of the 5th bunkers have grown in well and will be in play very
soon. Tree work was carried out on the 13th,
removing the last of the dead trees in that area. Further work on 9, 8, 6 and 5

Dear Members, I am pleased to advise that Gene Levette has accepted the
Boards invitation to be our Club Patron. Gene will be known to many of you as he has been a member of
Carnarvon for 35 years.&nbsp; He has served&nbsp;as a Board member for 22
years, including 6 years as Vice President,&nbsp;finishing his service when he
was not reelected in May of this year.&nbsp; His knowledge of the club and its
history is a valuable resource that we will no doubt call on in his role as
Patron. As the Patron Gene will play a significant and multi faceted
role within the club.&nbsp; Some aspects of the role include being the Clubs
most enthusiastic supporter, promoting the club within&nbsp;the community and
at events, being called upon for advice&nbsp;and guidance on various matters,
attracting new members and sponsors to the club and serving as a role model for
our members. Gene is eminently&nbsp;qualified to be successful&nbsp;in
all of those areas and the&nbsp;Board looks forward to&nbsp;working with him
to&nbsp;continue to move the club forward.&nbsp; Please congratulate&nbsp;Gene

New Patron Announcement

Dear Members, I am writing to inform you that our Club Patron Nick Stoves
has written to the Board informing us that due to ongoing health challenges he
is stepping down from the role of Patron. Nick has a long history with Carnarvon having been a member
for nearly 50 years.&nbsp; He served on the Board for 24 years with 3 of those
years being as Vice President and 6 years as the President. His significant
contribution to the Club was recognised when the members elected him as a life
member in 2018.&nbsp; In his time as Patron he has continued to support the
club and during&nbsp;my time as President has been a welcome sounding board for
issues that have arisen.&nbsp; I have always appreciated his counsel. The Board, on behalf of all staff and members, wish Nick all
the best as he continues to address his health issues and we hope that the
medical treatment he is receiving allows him to be back around the club more

August was an interesting month weather-wise with just
25mm of rain falling on an already soaked golf course. The average maximum
temperature was 21 degrees with a couple of days in the high 20’s thrown in at
the end of the month. Our greens have come through Winter very well with full grass
coverage and great health. The greens renovations were carried out successfully
mid-month with 3/8” hollow tines removing cores. Approximately 40 tonne of sand
was applied in the form of top dressing followed by soil amendments. The greens
recovered well and we were able to return to 3mm cutting height within 10 days. Green speeds prior to renovations were sitting around the
10’2” range and have returned to 10’ since renovations just 3 weeks ago. A
second light dust will be carried out mid-September to assist in maintaining a
smooth firm surface for the Championships at the end of the month. Early applications of preventative insecticide have been
carried out as we are expecting an early hatch of insect activity this year
given the warmer temperatures. In all I’m very pleased with the way our greens
are performing. Winter was not kind to our tees, but they have come
through quite well. The couch grass has begun to green up with the sun and warm
temperatures. As with greens, tees received an early hit with preventative
insecticides along with a feed to encourage root growth and plant health. The tees
have remained clean of any weed, including winter grass, or disease I’m expecting the tees to be in great shape by the time
Championships roll around and our annual Tee renovations are scheduled for
November. Once again, I’m very happy with the condition of our
fairways outside of the Ground Pearl and flood affected areas. It has not taken
long for them to dry out with the wind and warm temperature experienced at the
end of August and early September. We are already seeing an effect of this
drying out on plant health and patching of bare patches is back on the agenda. Patching
will continue throughout Spring as the weather allows. Amendments are scheduled

Carnarvon Golf Club began in 1927 when the game was played on an informal basis before being regularised at the first Annual General Meeting in August, 1928. The first President was Alderman W.R. Atkinson of Lidcombe Council and one of the Vice-Presidents was the Hon. J.T. Lang, Premier of New South Wales.The course which measured 4277 yards with a bogey of 75, was situated on the northern side of Parramatta Road and covered the following area : <ul><li>Western Boundary: Wetherill St. </li><li>Northern Boundary: Derby St.</li><li>Eastern Boundary: Haslam’s Creek and Hill Road.</li><li>Southern Boundary: Adderley St. Day St. then Parramatta Road to Hill Road.</li></ul>The area covered by the course included vacant proposed factory sites, unmade roads, an agistment paddock of the State Abbatoirs and portion of Southian’s dairy. The greens were the natural grasses mowed at the weekends by the members’ own push mowers. The holes were jam tins. The course was named after a large sign, visible from Parramatta Road, advertising factory sites for sale on Carnarvon Hill Estate. This sign is regarded as the first clubhouse as members drove nails into it on which to hang their coats and other paraphernalia. The first real clubhouse, known as “the Shack, was erected in 1929 on the corner of Day and Derby Streets and comprised two rooms, one 10 feet by 10 feet for members and the other 8 feet by 8 feet for associates with a 9 feet by 4 feet verandah. In 1931 the old Auburn Ambulance Station was purchased, towed to the site and added to The Shack. As tenure over the original course was tenuous at best a move was made to what became known as the “old course” in late 1932 with the official opening in 1933.The old course was located to the north of Fariola St. and occupied two paddocks owned by Newington State Hospital and a paddock to the south of Holker St. owned by Lidcombe Council. The lease from Newington State Hospital was for fifteen years under permissive occupancy tenure and covered tees and greens only. The greens were enclosed with post and rail fences as protection from our bovine co-tenants of the hospital dairy herd. The clubhouse was moved to the northern side of the eastern end of Fariola St in 1933 when extensive additions and alterations were effected. Things moved along swimmingly for the next ten years or so until the outbreak of World WarII. Our biggest disaster came on 8 March, 1943 when the clubhouse and the top paddock were taken over by the US Navy necessitating yet another move. It was decided to continue with a nine hole course consisting of the bottom paddock for seven holes with the remaining two holes in the council paddock. This became known as the Silverwater course. To accommodate a Clubhouse the committee resolved on 20 April, 1043 to purchase thecottage in Clyde St. Auburn and the adjacent eleven vacant blocks for 470 pounds Following the convention of the time it was necessary to pay 100 pounds “key money” to obtain vacant possession of the property. With renovations the cottage served as a Clubhouse until the move to the present course. The old cottage went through many years of modification, renovation, partial demolition and rebirth as a motor boat club, Auburn Businessman’s Club and is currently Dooley’s On The Water. The move to the present course was foreshadowed as early as 1943. The new course was an amalgamation of two contiguous areas separated by Walters Rd. which originally ran through from Nottinghill Rd to Joseph St. The area between Leila St. and Walters Rd. was the Lidcombe Sports and Showground and the area between Walters Rd and Amy St was the western grazing paddock of Lidcombe State Hospital for its prize winning herd of Holstein dairy cows. The areas were amalgamated, Walters Rd closed and the area leased to Carnarvon Golf Club in 1947. The course was built between the years 1947 to 1949 to a design by Arthur East. The Clubhouse was built over the same period. Due to the difficulty in obtaining building material in the post-war years the Clubhouse was built from material obtained by demolishing the Fariola St building together with the Liverpool and Lidcombe Soldiers’ Halls. The Clubhouse and new course were opened in December, 1949. Additions and renovations kept the building functional until 1998 when the Club came under increasing pressure to bring the structure up to the required standards. The cost involved was considered uneconomic considering the condition of the underpinnings. The Board voted to build a new Clubhouse and then demolish the old building. This was completed in December, 1999. Our present course presented a horticultural challenge to the earlier Committees and course superintendents as they battled with an area of poor clay based soil, gravel patches and rock outcrops. The Committee tendered for and won the contract to remove manure from the holding paddocks at Flemington Saleyards on the site of the present Flemington Markets. The contract ran from 1957 to 1963 and most fairways were covered to a depth of six to eight inches with mostly sheep manure. This was done half a fairway width at a time to enable play to continue. This combined with automatic fairway and greens watering of more recent years coupled with extensive drainage projects, has produced the lush course we have today. To quote the late C.W.Phillips President, from his address at the A.G.M. of 27th March, 1943 :- “Finally we have a good Club built by ourselves for ourselves and those we are happy to have with us and the old Carnarvon spirit will win through notwithstanding”

 <h3>GOLF CARTS</h3>
 We have 24 fully maintained Golf Carts for your use at $50 per cart for 18 holes. Hand pulled buggies must have wide tyres. Alternatively, these may be hired from the Proshop at $5 each.
 <h3>EQUIPMENT HIRE</h3>
 Club hire is available for both left and right handed players. These can be hired from the Proshop at a cost of $25 per set.
 <h3>DRESS RULES</h3>
 We wish to maintain a dress standard commensurate with the game of golf. For men, tailored shorts and trousers, shirts must have sleeves and collars. White short socks may be worn with a length of at least 75mm above the ankle.
 Items such as football jumpers and shorts, stubbies, brief shorts, athletic shorts and singlets, tracksuits, beach attire, dirty and worn clothes are not appropriate. Any person arriving for golf not properly attired will not be allowed on the course.
 <h3>DRINKS ON THE COURSE</h3>
 A drinks cart is available for hire at a cost of $40 per hour with a minimum of 3 hours. A staff member is included in this charge to drive the cart in accordance with RSA law. All beverages must be purchased from the Club.
 <h3>BOOKINGS</h3>
 Tentative bookings will be held for a period of 10 days only, after which time the date will be released. A non-refundable deposit of $500 is to be paid with each confirmed booking. If the function proceeds, the total deposit will be credited to the customer’s account.
 Menus, beverage arrangements, entertainment, audio-visual requirements, room plans, starting and finishing times must be confirmed in writing 14 days prior to the function.
 Final numbers must be confirmed no later than 7 days prior to the day of the event. These numbers may be increased up to 48 hours prior to the day, but not decreased.

Become a Member of Carnarvon Golf Club today
The following outlines the process involved in becoming a Member of Carnarvon Golf Club.
Subscription levels are set annually by the Board each year, commencing 1 September. Subscription rates may be adjusted to reflect a pro rata amount, relative to the remaining months of the financial year.
 
1. Completing the Application Form with Application Fee

<li>Please ensure that all sections of your application form have been completed in full. An incomplete form may delay your application.</li>
<li>Application forms are available from the reception area of the Club, or may be filled out via our online membership form.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Completed application forms can be submitted to the office in person or electronically.</li>

2. Approval
<ul>
<li>Once an application form has been received, the form will be posted onto our Members' Notice Board for a period of not less than 7 days.</li>
<li>The application will be considered at the next Board of Directors Meeting. The Board reserves the right to reject any application without providing a reason for their decision. In the event an application is rejected, the application fee will be refunded.</li>
<li>All applicants will be invited to and must attend an interview with the respective Captains.</li>
</ul>

3. Fees
<ul>
<li>All new members must then pay the annual subscription or pro rata amount relative to the remaining months of the current financial year.</li>
<li>Annual subscriptions may be paid in installments, that being monthly* or half yearly*.</li>
<li>*Please be aware that the Club does not offer monthly or half yearly memberships and members must ensure that the annual subscription is always payable in full, regardless of any installment methods that may be allowed from time to time.</li>

Conditions of Entry to Competitions
As of 1 January 2015 all visitors must have played a minimum of 3 of their last 20 games at a Home Club nominated by GOLF Link. &nbsp;Failure to comply will make players ineligible to win all trophies, including ball competition.
Visitors will be welcome to participate in Saturday Competitions* (conditions apply) provided the above criteria has been met regarding trophy allocations.
*Saturday Competitions are Members Invitational Member Invitations will no longer apply to Sunday competitions effective 3 March 2024.

<h1>1. Weather and Rainfall<o:p></o:p></h1>Summer arrived with notably warm conditions, recording an
average maximum temperature of 31°C. There were 19 days exceeding 30°C,
including 10 days over 35°C. Rainfall for December was low, totalling just
33mm, resulting in only 92mm since October. The annual rainfall in 2025 was
1,182mm, which is around the average and 132mm more than 2024. Strong winds
persisted throughout December, further intensifying the dry conditions.<o:p></o:p><h1>2. Greens<o:p></o:p></h1>Despite challenging weather, the greens performed
exceptionally well. Poa experienced some stress from sodium and a touch of
Anthracnose during the prolonged heat, but recovery has been strong. Green
speed remained consistent at 10’6”. Plans are in place to verti-drain greens in
early January to enhance air movement, and increased dusting will be
implemented to prevent thatch and improve infiltration. Overall, the health and
presentation of the greens is excellent, positioning us well for the expected
difficult weather in the coming 8–12 weeks.<o:p></o:p><h1>3. Tees<o:p></o:p></h1>Tees are coping well with the warmer weather, though some
dry patches persist due to poor soil, tree roots, and environmental factors.
Renovated tees have fully recovered and will receive organic fertiliser in
early January to strengthen both plant and soil. Turf on the 3rd and 12th tees
has established well despite the heat and is currently being mown at 18mm, with
plans to gradually reduce to the target tee height of 10mm.<o:p></o:p><h1>4. Fairways<o:p></o:p></h1>Fairways are variable, with some areas remaining very dry
and others lush and healthy, primarily based on soil condition and tree root
influence. Irrigation is ongoing where practical, but water supply limitations
are a concern. Outside of Ground Pearl affected zones, fairways are in good
condition. Ground Pearl trials were postponed in December due to high winds,
short weeks, and a busy golf schedule. These trials will resume as soon as

While there have been no major breakthroughs since late 2025, the proposal remains active and our advocacy efforts continue to play a crucial role in shaping the outcome.<o:p style=""></o:p>Background and Proposal Details The NSW State Government, through MMP, has identified Carnarvon Golf Course as a preferred site for a new cemetery to address Sydney's projected shortage of burial spaces. &nbsp;MMP reviewed over 1,000 potential locations against criteria like suitability, accessibility, and environmental factors before selecting our 45-hectare site. &nbsp;This stems from long-term planning to tackle "30 years of inaction" on burial needs, as noted by Minister for Lands and Property Steve Kamper.The proposal involves converting the course into a "memorial park," which MMP promotes as a community space.&nbsp; However, this has faced strong pushback due to the loss of recreational green space in Western Sydney, where urban density is increasing.<o:p style=""></o:p>Importantly, our lease remains secure until 2035, as confirmed directly by Minister Kamper. <h1>Weather
and Rainfall<o:p></o:p></h1>It was not long ago that we were all hoping for the rain to
stop, but now the situation has reversed, and we are again wishing for rain.
The course received 45mm of rainfall throughout November, following just 15mm
in October. This amounts to 60mm over a 61-day period. The weather conditions
have been notably challenging, with eleven days exceeding 30 degrees and an
average maximum temperature above 28 degrees. Additionally, 28 days were marked
by persistent wind and elevated UV and evapotranspiration rates, resulting in
extremely dry conditions across the golf course.<o:p></o:p><h1>Greens<o:p></o:p></h1>The greens have performed exceptionally well and are
currently in excellent condition as we approach what is anticipated to be a
difficult summer. In November, scheduled renovations were completed using 10mm
hollow tines, followed by the application of soil amendments and sand. A
follow-up dusting was conducted a week later to further smooth the surface.
Green speed has remained consistent, averaging 10 feet 8 inches throughout
November. Although a slight decrease in speed is expected over summer, it is
unlikely to fall below 10 feet.<o:p></o:p>Please note that during the warmer months, afternoon watering
cycles may be run on the greens between 5:45pm and 6:15pm to help keep the leaf
cool during the afternoon heat. It is also important to remember that summer
places the greatest pressure on greens due to increased pest and disease
activity. Unrepaired pitch marks create opportunities for these issues to
develop, so all players are encouraged to repair pitch marks on the greens. If
you are unable to locate your own, please repair another one.<o:p></o:p><h1>Tees<o:p></o:p></h1>The tees are responding well to the heat and increased
irrigation, showing good recovery following November’s scheduled renovations.
These works included verti-draining with 19mm hollow tines, rubbing back the
cores, and applying the appropriate fertilisers. The Par 3 tees are continuing
to improve, albeit slowly. <o:p></o:p>Players are
reminded to fill divots on tees to help maintain the best possible playing
surface.<o:p></o:p><h1>Fairways<o:p></o:p></h1>The fairways were looking excellent until the onset of dry
heat. Despite irrigating them three times a week, this has not been sufficient,
and while most areas are holding up, turf quality has declined where soil is
poor or tree roots are intrusive. Renovation plans for the fairways will be
postponed until conditions improve. On a positive note, progress is being made
in managing Ground Pearl; there appears to be a reduction in both numbers and
damage in the trial areas, though it is still early days.<o:p></o:p><h1>Other
Works<o:p></o:p></h1>Tree work was completed around the 12th green and in front
of the 13th tee, prompted by a large Tallow-wood tree falling in the wind.
While the arborist was onsite, additional dead and hazardous trees and limbs

Rainfall and Weather October was exceptionally dry, recording only 15mm of
rainfall for the entire month, with nearly two-thirds of that total falling on
the last day. The average maximum temperature reached 28 degrees, and there
were even a couple of days when the mercury soared close to 40 degrees. Looking
ahead, we are hoping for increased rainfall during November and into the
Christmas period to help the course recover and thrive.Greens Throughout October, the greens performed exceptionally well
despite the dry, windy conditions. Green speeds averaged 10 feet 8 inches
during championships, and the quality of the playing surfaces has been highly
satisfactory. Prior to the scheduled renovations on the 9th and 10th of
November, soil testing has been completed to ensure the best possible outcomes.
The renovation process will involve the use of an 8mm hollow tine, the addition
of soil amendments, and a layer of sand. This year, a new piece of renovation
equipment will be demonstrated on the putting green. The machine utilises
high-pressure water to create holes in the soil profile and simultaneously
pulls sand into these holes in a single action, resulting in a renovated green
with sand-filled core holes.Tees The warm weather in October has led to significant
improvement in the tees, particularly on holes 3 and 12, while the remainder
are in excellent condition.All players are reminded that applying sand to divots,
especially on the par 3 tees, assists tee recovery.<o:p></o:p>



Tee renovations are scheduled for November following the
completion of the greens and will be carried out over several days to avoid
disrupting the golf program. The process will include a 19mm hollow tine, with
the extracted cores and spoil being rubbed back into the tee.Fairways The fairways have also coped well with the dry conditions,
though by the end of the month, the need for rain became apparent. Regular
applications of fertiliser and pigment have helped to maintain their health and
supported their recovery from winter. A granular fertiliser was applied just
before the rain at the end of October, and its effects should start to show in
early November. We are now on the fourth application of the latest Ground Pearl
trial product, which appears to be yielding positive results. Monitoring will
continue as we enter the active months for this species. Plans are also in
place to carry out fairway renovations during November, involving scarifying
with a trail-behind unit and coring with the Ventrac. As always, the schedule
will depend on the weather, and work will be spread over several days to
