A message from the General Manager, Adam McGregor

Dear Members,

I am writing to you today to address a critical issue that threatens the future of our beloved Carnarvon Golf Course: a recent proposal to convert parts of the course into cemetery space.

You have likely seen media coverage regarding this proposal, and I want to address this matter directly and reassure you about our club's unwavering commitment to preserving our course. First and foremost, our lease has a remaining term of 10 years, during which the golf course and associated facilities are secured for our continued use. We remain steadfast in our determination to protect this vital community space, not only for the duration of the lease but also for generations to come.

To that end, we have engaged our local member of Parliament, Lynda Voltz, who has been very supportive of our position and shares our concerns.  We are also in active discussions with several other key stakeholders to ensure our members and the broader community are heard loud and clear.  We are resolute in doing everything within our power to avoid this proposal coming to fruition.

As part of our collective effort, we are urging all members to show their support by signing the current and active petition seeking to exclude Carnarvon Golf Course from consideration in expanding cemetery space.  I would encourage you to share with family and friends too and ask that they participate.  Yours and our communities’ participation is crucial in demonstrating the strength of our community’s opposition to this proposal.  Please visit the parliament website and find our e-petition to lend your voice to this cause.
