Carnarvon Golf Course Update to Members and Local Residents - April

Dear Members and local residents,

I am pleased to provide a significant update in our campaign to secure the future of Carnarvon Golf Club - this is my third letter to you on this important matter.  We recently met with Minister Kamper and the Minister has personally assured us that our lease is secure through to its conclusion in 2035. This is a significant commitment for our club.

While this is a crucial advancement, our work continues. The long-term future of the site beyond 2035 remains under consideration, and Carnarvon could still be part of broader planning discussions, including potential cemetery expansion. The minister has also facilitated a meeting between our club and the Metropolitan Municipal Parks (MMP) board which advises on cemetery locations. This is a valuable opportunity for us to get ahead of the game and present to the MMP Board highlighting all of the reasons why Carnarvon Golf Club should not be considered as an option.  We expect to do this in conjunction with our Local MP Lynda Voltz and the Cumberland City Council, both supporting us through this process.

To ensure this cherished green space thrives for generations, we need your continued support.  The e-petition remains a vital tool in this effort. Reaching 20,000 signatures will send a powerful message that our community values Carnarvon Golf Club and wants it preserved as a recreational cornerstone. If you haven’t signed yet, please take a moment to do so and encourage at least 10 friends, family members, or colleagues to join you. Together, we can exceed this target and strengthen our case!

This is about more than golf - it’s about preserving a recreational hub that enhances our community’s quality of life and local property values.  Thank you for standing with us.  With this milestone in hand, please help us to keep pushing to remove Carnarvon from the list of cemetery expansion targets once and for all!

We’ll keep you informed as developments unfold, and I welcome your questions or ideas anytime.

Yours faithfully,

Adam McGregor
