Course Managers Update - Around the Greens in June
Published Monday, 16th July 2018
The new path on the 5th is starting to take shape quite nicely as shown in the photo.
A total of 76mm fell in June and after being so dry the water was absorbed into the ground quickly.
We verti-drained the Greens with 8mm solid tines to improve water and air movement in the soil profile and the Greens are clean of any Winter disease.
An application of pigment was applied to the Tees in early and late June to help with colour and presentation, which has produced a side effect of higher temperatures in the micro-climate, encouraging some winter growth.
The Fairways were fed early in the month to encourage a bit of growth. A repeat application will be completed in early July. A further 300m of turf has been laid in bare patches as we work our way through the course. Also in late June the “Imants” root pruner was hired for 3 days. All 18 fairways, most greens and several tees were pruned of invading tree roots.
All sand over drainage lines in bunkers was replaced during June, reducing the chances of any water pooling in the bunkers. Another 20 tonne of sand was added to shallow areas.
